Wedding Planner

A wedding planner is needed to coordinate any successful marriage event. By wedding planner, we don't necessarily mean one of the many professional wedding planners that one can pay to take care of all the details (though some will opt for this avenue).

Instead, a wedding planner could be the bride, groom or a family member as well. The wedding planner may also be a software program or a hardbound book that helps those planning the wedding keep dates, times, vendors and schedules straight.

If you happen to be the wedding planner of an upcoming ceremony and reception then you'll want to read what we have to say as we'll help you get organized on planning that successful event. For those who are semi-computer literate, we recommend using a software program such as Microsoft Excel or Project as either of these two tools will help in coordinating and organizing.

Microsoft Project is especially helpful since a wedding planner can input the names of vendors, timelines, dates for deliverables and delegate tasks to other members on the wedding team. For those who like to take charge and are good at organizing and delegating this is the software for you.

Now, if you are a wedding planner who is not that adept at software or who doesn't want to incur the added expense, then a large notebook will suffice. Use the notebook, to name all vendors, dates and times of deliverables, and others who have been assigned tasks in helping to pull together this event.

The wedding planner needs to be well-organized but also flexible when issues arrive and alternatives need to be worked out. If a wedding planner is too rigid, this will not only cause personal stress but stress for everyone around them. If the wedding planner is too flexible, however, dates and times will slip and the who event may be thrown into chaos for lack of planning and assertiveness.

When the wedding planner has delegated tasks to different individuals to perform, such as a soon to be mother-in-law taking care of the flowers or a brother scouting out musicians for the event, it is important to give all involved deadlines.

Without deadlines, many people will let their tasks slide and may cause a panic with the bride or groom later when they are trying to tie up loose ends.

It's the wedding planner's job to see to it that there are no loose ends or if there are that they are quickly resolved to the satisfaction of the bride and groom.

Being firm, assertive and cheerful will help any wedding planner make headway with friends, relatives, vendors and others involved in the planning of the upcoming event.

The bride and groom may be the most essential people to the ceremony and reception, but it is the wedding planner, whomever this may be, that is responsible for pulling off the event.

If this person is you, then get started on getting organized in planning your upcoming nuptials! If this person is not you, then find your wedding planner right away as they will need to get started as soon as possible on making arrangements for your event.
